Gullón, the centenarian biscuit manufacturer and main European producer has been the first Spanish company of Food and Biscuit sector being recognised by the audit ACERTA for his measures to counteract and prevent Covid-19. The certificate COVID-19 Prevention / Food validates its Contingency Plan implemented to isolate the industry from coronavirus and safeguard the health and protection of its employees and secure the supply and the service to its customers.

To respond to the requirements of customers, consumers, retail distributors and stakeholders, Gullón established preventive measures which have been audited to maintain its factories and the production process safe obtaining this insignia on Covid-19 prevention. This certificate validates the Contingency Plan based on the guidelines and recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the European Commission (EC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Spanish Ministry of Health and the promoters of food security rules (IFS, BRCGS, GLOBALG.A.P.).

Measures of the Contingency Plan

One week prior to the declaration of the State of Alarm in Spain, Gullón started implementing its Contingency Plan. The main measures of the plan contemplate temperature control for the staff in the access point to the factories, disinfection of common areas including ozonisation and nebulization, separation of workspaces through physic barriers such as bulkhead, factory visit restricted to the essential staff, reorganization of the work shifts to avoid agglomerations, remote work for office staff, distribution of over 90.000 certified facemasks, face shields and protection glasses and easy access to hydroalcoholic gel in all the post and for all the employees.

In the field of external audits and certifications, the Spanish company has been always at the vanguard of its sector. Gullón was the first biscuit manufacturer being granted by AENOR with the ISO 9001 and 14001 insignia on quality and environmental management.

Currently, Gullón counts with more than 20 certificates on quality, innovation, food security (IFS and BRC), social corporate responsibility (SMETA) and environmental management, AENOR’s verification on Emissions Inventory (company carbon footprint) or the BIO certificate on production and labelling of its ecologic brands.
